Wire Cutting
Wire cutting is not a new process but we think it’s still an amazing one.
Wire cutting allows intricate profiles to be cut into all kinds of materials and we would say almost any profile you can think of can be cut on a EDM wirecut machine the only limiting factors are
- Conductivity-the process requires an electrical charge to pass through the material
- that the profile is through the whole part top to bottom
- the range of travel for each available machine.
Wire cutting is traditional used by Toolmakers for manufacture of dies. Since its inception it has been used by all industries and for many varied applications. Wire cutting can produce very small detail accurately and can produce tapers along these intricate shapes.
As it doesn’t cause stress on the part or any forces applied in work holding the material remains stable and therefore is reliable and repeatable and for this reason is sort after by many product manufacturers.
